How it works
By registering, you help refugees find safe homes while coordinating with IOM and property owners to meet their requirements.

Create an NGO profile
Become an NGO partner on our platform by registering via the registration form. Your organisation will now have an exclusive login and be visible on our social map.

Create a refugee profile
Collect the personal details from the refugee you wish to match to housing via our platform. Submit their details via the registration form for review by IOM.

Apply for properties
Once the refugee case file is created by the NGO and approved by an IOM staff, the NGO can apply for properties based on their requirements.

IOM endorses applicants
Send these applications to the IOM staff for review.

Landlord reviews applicants sent by IOM
IOM will send the list of potential candidates to the landlord, who decides which applications to accept for their property.

Accompany the refugee during the housing visit
You will accompany the selected refugees during the physical visit of the housing option to ensure good communication and a good match.

Property is rented out!
If the candidate-tenant and the landlord agree, a direct lease agreement is established between the landlord and the refugee.

Assess matching experience
You can continue to support the candidate-tenant and landlord for 6 months after the signing of the contract if necessary, and depending on your NGO's supporting capacity. An evaluation moment, conducted by the NGO within 6 months, will assess the matching experience of the refugee and the landlord.

Social housing
- Includes public and subsidised private 'social' housing through AIS/SVKs that act as intermediaries.
- Provides affordable rental housing, conditioned to low income and vulnerabilities, however with very long waiting lists.
Housing information services
Offer rental information on the most common needs of tenants, including information specific to the needs of newcomers.
Diaspora organisations
- May offer housing support services.
- Provide information, translation, and mediation to facilitate access to housing.
- Community based assistance.
- Referral to other organisations.
Financial support mechanisms
- Financial support provided through rental deposits and rental subsidies.
- May be subject to registration in social housing systems.

Not all of these services are able to provide immediate or short-term housing solutions!
Access to public social housing and private social housing schemes such as social rental agencies (SVK/AIS) often involves waiting periods that can extend over several years, depending on the region in Belgium.
Still, early registration remains highly recommended. It is a necessary step to secure more affordable housing options in the medium to long term. Moreover, being registered in the social housing system can grant access to additional forms of financial support, such as rental subsidies.
Therefore, even in situations of urgent need, being informed about these mechanisms and registration is a crucial investment in their longer-term housing stability.
